TAPS Act 2019

Posted by:

Threat Assessment, Prevention, and Safety Act, House Bill 838 / Senate Bill 265 (Identical)

As a member of the Crisis Solutionist Threat Assessment and Management team, I will be heading to Capitol Hill this week. This bill has bipartisan support in both the House and Senate. As of July 10, 2019, there are 47 Democrats and 47 Republicans co-sponsoring the House bill. This day on the Hill is part of a coordinated effort to inform and educate the legislatures and their staffs of the importance of establishing a task force of threat assessment experts to create uniform guidelines in how to address targeted acts of violence. This bill was carefully crafted by Representative Brian Babin TX-36, with the help of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) to be a neutral bill that would allow for bipartisan support.

If your Representatives or Senators have not signed onto their respective bills, we at Crisis Solutionist encourage you to reach out to your delegation and voice your support of both Bills. If you have any questions or would like to co-sponsor this bill, please contact Steve Janushkowsky or Lauren Ziegler.
